Revitalizing an 1885 Gem: Where history meets Vision

When a peice of history meets modern innovation, a remarkable transformation unfolds. Our latest project at Renovating Spaces takes an 1885 home and reimagines it into a fully modern living space while preserving its unique character.

A Bold Re-imagination

​This renovation journey began with rethinking the very structure of the home. We tore down outdated layout, breathing new life into the interior plan. By removing barriers of the past, we created larger, more functional and inviting rooms. Most notably, an expanded bedrooms that can now host a king size and queen size bed as well as a full-size bathroom from a bathroom you could barely turn around in. They now offer both comfort and style.

Redefining the Heart of the Home​

The kitchen, once overly spacious and functional lacking, I redesigned to serve as a truly efficient and inspiring cooking space with plenty of counter tops. The original oversized layout was recalibrated to better accommodate everyday usage, ensuring every inch serves a purpose. With the introduction of new cabinetry and countertops this galley kitchen streamlined look offers now harmoniously blends of aesthetic appeal with practicality.

A Suite of Modern Upgrades

Our approach left no detail untouched. In fact, I would call it a "new home" in the since that nothing hasn't been changed and upgraded in some aspect

*Structural Enhancements: 

  Upgraded floor joist in most of the home 

  New walls structure and layout 

  New insulation in the wall and ceiling adding warmth an quite   

  My favorite: Restored ceiling height of 10' adding a grandeur to the rooms they once had to create an open-airy feeling.    New windows with 1885 inpired grids

  New updated and re-opened front porch

Exterior and Interior Finishes

Fresh new flooring with the latest colorsNew doors and windows and trim that honor the historic style but provides modern security and energy efficient new HVAC system for year-round comfort.  Strategic repositioning of exterior features like removing the shed that obstructed views of the large back yard. Removing siding on the carport to get rid of the "dark abyss" look on the home, opening up the space to feel safe when you arrive home and more importantly letting light in those large bedroom new windows!

Situated just a few steps away from the community park, the small main street, and even the local bank and post office, this home is perfectly nestled in a neighborhood that balances quite with convivence.
